Objectives and tasks

DWA - Your competent and reliable partner in all water problems, however complex.

Clear concepts, a clean environment

These are the goals on which the tasks of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), in its role as a specialist technical and scientific organisation, are focused. As a politically and economically independent association, the DWA works to promote research and development.
Amongst a membership of approximately 14,000, there are municipalities, institutes of higher education, engineers, public authorities and companies as well as their experts and management. The DWA gives its full support to sustainable water-resources management, has established a discussion forum for ideas and the exchange of opinions and provides expert advice for legislative bodies and policy makers.

Experts from all sectors of water-resource management document the "generally acknowledged rules of technology" and develop from these the DWA set of rules and standards. The results of this work are technical rules and standards, training and education programmes, highly specialised publications as well as materials for public relations work in water-resource management, wastewater, waste and soil conservation.
The content of these rules and standards and other topics under the heading of water-resource management are propagated by means of the DWA education programmes at numerous seminars and conferences.
